Our story

My mother had a simple rule: don’t rush. She said it mostly in the car, "You don’t need to be in a hurry. Just get there on your own time."

She meant it practically. She just didn’t want me to get hurt. But I held onto those words longer than she probably expected. They became something I turned over quietly for years, especially during the times I was moving fast for the wrong reasons.

It took a while to learn that getting somewhere on your own terms is worth more than arriving early on someone else’s. She didn’t get to see what her words quietly built in me. But she’s in the name of this business, in the way I approach the work, in the reason I finally decided to start something I could genuinely call my own.

Owntime is a small-batch specialty coffee roaster based in San Francisco. I source coffees I believe in and roast them with care.

You don’t need to know the difference between a washed and natural process to enjoy a truly great cup. You just need someone who’s done the work of finding it. That’s what I try to be.

No wrong way to drink it. Just good coffee.
